MoranLaw 2026 INTA Highlights

At the beginning of May, the MoranLaw intellectual property team headed to London for the International Trademark Association (INTA)’s annual meeting, joining thousands of professionals from around the globe. Over the course of a busy week in the city, the team balanced a packed schedule of meetings with opportunities to reconnect, build relationships, and take in the unique atmosphere of London.

A consistent theme across the week was the strong reputation MoranLaw has built despite being a relatively new kid on the block. Amanda noted how encouraging it was to hear from INTA attendees that the firm is already a well‑known and respected presence, particularly given the significant representation of other New Zealand firms at the event.

"There were lots of comments in the range of "You have joined an amazing firm"; "the people are great"; "we really enjoy working with your firm"."

For Amanda, this recognition reinforced the value of having a strong team on the ground and making meaningful connections.

In a setting as large and fast-paced as INTA in London—where thousands of people move between meetings every day—the team also found that smaller, more focused catchups were especially worthwhile. These more intimate meetings created better opportunities to connect with hosts and have deeper conversations, something that stood out amid the scale of the event.

"We didn't get to everyone, INTA in London didn't permit that, but the meetings we had were significant and we are so grateful for the support"

For Jessie, the week reflected what she values most about INTA: the chance to reconnect with clients, catch up with overseas associates, and form new professional relationships. Having lived in London until recently, she also appreciated returning to the city and experiencing it again between meetings.

"Walking around the city of London between meetings was a real treat, taking in the rich history of the city, made even better by some welcome London sunshine".

And despite the packed schedule, Scott was fortunate to make a bucket list trip to Anfield stadium - a personal highlight of the overall trip for him.

Beyond the meetings themselves, Jessie highlighted the importance of the social side of the event. Hosting clients at a pre-INTA gathering stood out as a particular highlight, enjoying a memorable evening in the West End at the  amazing production of Six!

Scott noted that this year marked the third time MoranLaw has attended INTA since its founding in April 2024, with the London delegation being the largest to date. Scott was grateful for his team of four and the two "secret weapons" (wonderfully supportive spouses Kerina and Ali), who all contributed to a successful INTA.
